Norms to curb surrogate ads & pesky calls next month

Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) has issued notices to 13 companies, including leading alcohol, tobacco, and paan masala manufacturers, for surrogate advertising. The companies have responded, denying the allegations. Guidelines to regulate surrogate advertising will be released next month. Additionally, norms to address unsolicited commercial communications are set to be introduced in January.
