Gang jailed for smuggling £200m of cocaine in bananas
A drug-smuggling gang has been jailed after cocaine with a street value of £200 million was intercepted in a shipment of bananas – one of the UK’s biggest ever drug seizures.
Crime boss Petko Zhutev, 39, was jailed for 27 years at the Old Bailey for importation of a class A drug.
Erik Muci, 45, was sentenced to 33 years, and Olsi Ebeja, 40, was sentenced to 17 years in prison.
Bruno Kuci, 32, and Gjergji Diko, 34, were jailed for 21 years and 18 years, respectively.

Sara Sharif's father and stepmother have been jailed for life at the Old Bailey for the 10-year-old's murder. Sara's father, Urfan Sharif, was told he will serve a minimum term of 40 years and stepmother Beinash Batool was sentenced to a minimum term of 33 years. Three members of Sara Sharif's family have been found guilty over the 10-year-old's death after years of horrific abuse. The UK continues to face weather warnings following a night of heavy snowfall. It comes after an amber weather warning was issued across the Midlands with disruption from snow and freezing rain expected over the weekend. The UK is in the grip of a wintry spell of weather, with the Met Office issuing two fresh amber warnings for snow and ice for parts of England and Wales over the weekend. Snow has already been spotted in Conwy Valley in Wales.
An amber warning for snow and rare freezing rain covering most of Wales and central England, including the Midlands and the north-west cities of Liverpool and Manchester, is in place from 6pm on Saturday to midday on Sunday, the Met Office said.
